David Kobierski

David Kobierski brings over a decade of construction and operational experience to Better Quality Builders.

Before launching the company, he helped run a mid-sized construction business with more than 80 employees, gaining firsthand experience in every stage of the building process. Today, he focuses on client relationships, technology systems, operations, and helping homeowners move through design, engineering, financing, and construction under one roof — with a focus on building homes that are stronger, smarter, and built to last.

David has lived in Maricopa County for more than 22 years and believes a home should improve a family's quality of life — not just check a box on a builder's spreadsheet.

CEO & Co-Founder

Kasia Finelli

Kasia Finelli is CEO and co-founder of Better Quality Builders. Originally from Poland, she immigrated to Arizona and built a career around helping families find — and now build — homes that fit their lives.

She is a 2023 Maricopa County Top 10 Producer in Units Sold as a licensed Realtor® (AZ License SA695484000) with CITIEA Real Estate Group in Scottsdale, where she continues to actively represent buyers and sellers across the Phoenix Valley. Over her real estate career she has helped families from across the United States, Canada, and Mexico relocate to Arizona, with a particular strength in serving out-of-state buyers through virtual walkthroughs and end-to-end coordination.

At BQB, Kasia leads the client experience, brand strategy, and the coordination between real estate, design, and construction — so that families building a custom home get the same attention and follow-through she brings to her real estate practice.

Known for being relentlessly hard-working, Kasia brings the same drive to BQB that she brings to every real estate client she serves. She and David are raising four children together in Maricopa County and care deeply about the long-term health of the community they live and work in.

Chief Construction Officer

David Kowaleski

David Kowaleski runs construction at Better Quality Builders — accountable for how every home actually gets built, from site work through final quality.

He brings more than a decade of building, general contracting, and real estate experience across the Phoenix area, grounded in a builder's eye for getting it right the first time. Before joining BQB, David spent over a decade co-founding and running a Valley company that brought home building, general contracting, real estate, and lending together under one roof — built on the idea that one accountable team makes for fewer errors and fewer delays than juggling separate firms. It's the same philosophy behind Better Quality Builders. He also owns K&I Construction, which keeps him hands-on with how a build comes together on the ground. A graduate of Arizona State University with a B.S. in Sustainability, David is a natural fit for BQB's focus on steel-panel homes engineered to stay efficient and stand for generations.

Where we started

The idea for Better Quality Builders started years ago after seeing too many homes built around speed and cost instead of quality. After years in construction and real estate, we kept running into the same problem: homeowners were paying more while getting less. We knew there had to be a better way to build.

How the company came together

Better Quality Builders was built from years of experience in construction, real estate, and project management. The company originally started nearly 15 years ago under a different construction brand, founded by David Kobierski and longtime business partner David Kowalewski, who was running a large real estate company while also working in construction. Over time, the vision became clearer: instead of chasing volume, spec builds, or quick-turn projects, the focus shifted toward building higher-quality custom homes for families who wanted something built to last.

The company eventually evolved into what Better Quality Builders is today — a close-knit, family-driven business built around trust, long-term relationships, and a belief that homeowners deserve better materials, better communication, and a better overall building experience.

Why Maricopa County

It's not where we work. It's home.

Maricopa County isn't just where we build — it's where we live. David Kobierski has been here for more than two decades, and the people, neighborhoods, and families here are part of everyday life. This is the community we know, where we've built relationships over the years, and where reputation still matters because you see people again at the grocery store, at dinner, and around town.

We're not building from a distance. We live here too.

Why SIPs

After years of stick framing, we stopped going back.

After years in traditional construction, we kept seeing the same problems: warped lumber, rising material costs, poor insulation, thermal loss, and homes built as quickly and cheaply as possible. In Arizona heat, that approach doesn't make sense anymore.

That's why Better Quality Builders committed to building with SIPs — Structural Insulated Panels. The system delivers stronger, more energy-efficient homes with tighter insulation, quieter interiors, improved durability, and better long-term performance for families. While much of the industry continues to focus on cutting costs and building faster, we believe modern homes should be built around comfort, efficiency, safety, and quality of life.

What We Believe

Principles we'd be willing to lose business over.

Every builder lists "quality" and "integrity" as values. We've tried to write ours so a competitor couldn't honestly claim the same thing — and so each one has a real cost we're prepared to pay.

— 01 —

The home outlives the builder.

We build for 200-year longevity, not next-quarter margins. That's why we use steel structural panels instead of lumber, even when lumber's cheaper this month.

AirLight panels carry a documented 200+ year permanent R-value. We chose that system before we chose anything else.

— 02 —

We won't take on more than we can personally walk.

We cap our build slate at 10 homes per year. Past that we stop knowing your name, your subcontractors stop remembering the project, and the corners that matter start getting cut. We'd rather turn down a customer than build them a house we can't personally walk every week.

Ten homes per year. If you're approved, you're one of ten. That's a hard line, not a marketing one.

— 03 —

Three names on every decision.

You don't get handed off to a project manager you've never met. Every meaningful decision on your home is made by one of the three of us — and you'll know which one.

David K. owns build standards. Kasia owns client relationship and design integration. David K. owns site operations. No exceptions.

— 04 —

If we wouldn't live in it, we don't build it.

We won't substitute glued-laminate beams for solid structural steel, even when the spec sheet says it'll pass code. We won't run plumbing or electrical through exterior walls to save a day of labor. We won't pour a slab when the soil report tells us to wait two weeks. If we wouldn't accept that work in our own homes, we won't sell it to you.

Every shortcut we refuse costs us margin. We've made peace with that. It's why our homes last.

Who We Trust

The partners behind our standard.

We don't manufacture panels. We don't underwrite mortgages. We don't draw architectural plans from scratch. What we do is choose — carefully, slowly, and with our name on the result — who we trust to deliver our standard.

An important distinction: Better Quality Builders is its own family business, owned by the three of us. Our partners listed below are independent companies we've chosen to work with — they don't own us, and we don't own them. We chose each one because their work meets the standard we'd put on our own homes.
AirLight
Wanessa Sue, Inc.

Our exclusive structural panel system

AirLight steel structural insulated panels — manufactured by Wanessa Sue, Inc. in Kingman, Arizona — are the structural system in every home we build. We chose them because no lumber-built home in this climate meets the longevity, fire-resistance, and energy performance we hold ourselves to.

BQB is a separate company from Wanessa Sue, Inc. We are AirLight's customer, not its parent.
